Day 16: Biggest Loser Resort Niagara

IMG_7533There was some good and bad today at the resort for me. On the good side I had a great conversation about planning and ways to move forward with Kelly today. She is one of the trainers here and they are all willing to take some time during just about anything to listen and offer advice. I started off asking her advice on whether I should stick with my current schedule of 3 weeks on, 1 off, 2 on, 1 off and 2 on. I will have a spare week after that since we bought a package of 8 weeks. My wife had mentioned over the weekend that I could change to 5 weeks on, 1 week off and then 3 weeks on to finish off my stay here. Kelly helped me start to break down what I needed to do when I got home and I think I am going to stick with the way things are already.

Day 12: Biggest Loser Resort Niagara

IMG_7259Today was the day that my family arrived into town and I could not wait to see them. I checked in with them between every class to see when they were going to arrive. They turned out to not make it in until around 5pm, and that was perfect. I had them come down here so I could show them around, but I only got to introduce them to a few guests. My son and daughter were enthralled by the boats and the fishing poles. I think they want to come back just for that as a vacation!

Day 9: Biggest Loser Resort Niagara

IMG_6597It was a thoroughly exhausting day today, but I feel pretty good all things considered. I have found myself bonding more with some of the guests and getting to know the trainers a bit more which is helping my overall mood. My first week I was pretty shut off from other people and now I find myself opening up more and laughing at meal time with some of my new friends.

Day 8: Biggest Loser Resort Niagara

IMG_7044 Monday all over again, and all I can think about is surviving until the end of the day. I was a little excited about the assessment hike once again to see if I could notice any difference over the weekend. I think I have done some improving on my stamina, but my speed is about the same. It was good to go through it again with a new group of people, but there are far fewer new people this week. The total group size is down about 10 and the stay over guests far outnumber the newbies. It is actually not such a bad thing considering the people here are great and today I really got to have a great time. My group for breakfast, lunch and dinner kept me laughing so much today that I felt like I had a third core workout.

Days 6 and 7: Biggest Loser Resort Niagara

IMG_7209At this resort y0u are encouraged to weigh in every weekend to see your results and fix what you need to. I weighed in on Saturday morning and got the pleasant surprise of losing 12.4 pounds (19.10 body fat lost, 6.7 muscle gained) and 3.5% body fat. I have to say I was pretty excited and hope I can continue the downward trend aggressively my second and third weeks.

Day 5: Biggest Loser Resort Niagara

IMG_7152The day once again started off with me snoozing through stretch, but the extra sleep has been good for me.  Coming to the resort I have had some problems with snoring and waking up on and off, but all the working out here has made me sleep like the dead.  I woke up feeling pretty invigorated considering all the work I had put in throughout the week.  The best part of the day for me was knowing I was going on an offsite hike.  The offsite hike was at Letchworth State Park, and it was far better than I expected.

Day 4: Biggest Loser Resort Niagara

Along the hiking trailIt looks like I am going to be using my stretch time each morning to sleep.  I am still catching up on these blog posts and not waking up early like I should to keep it all fresh in my mind.  I will be completely caught up this weekend though.  Thursday my energy was up and I was definitely ready to go in the morning.  There was a good lecture on goal setting that changed the way I looked at some of my own goals.  Having our trainer explain that it is better to set weekly total minute goals for gym activities rather than number of days in the gym.  If you set up  total minutes you can always catch up at the end of the week by working out more and accomplish your goal.   If you had said you were going to go 5 days a week for at least 45 minutes and you were sick 3 days you have not left yourself much wiggle room since there are only so many days of the week.  I think that little tidbit will help me.

From Scratch! A New Beginning At A Near Record High.

The BeginningI am currently back at the Biggest Loser Resort, but this time it is the one in Niagara (actually Java Center, NY 1 hour drive from the falls.) I decided to do a pre-day 1 post (though I am finally putting it into the computer on day 4 here) to do a little catch up work with me. I feel that once I do a little catch up it will be easier for me to focus on information and experiences about the resort, so please bear with me.
