Day 8: Biggest Loser Resort Niagara

IMG_7044 Monday all over again, and all I can think about is surviving until the end of the day. I was a little excited about the assessment hike once again to see if I could notice any difference over the weekend. I think I have done some improving on my stamina, but my speed is about the same. It was good to go through it again with a new group of people, but there are far fewer new people this week. The total group size is down about 10 and the stay over guests far outnumber the newbies. It is actually not such a bad thing considering the people here are great and today I really got to have a great time. My group for breakfast, lunch and dinner kept me laughing so much today that I felt like I had a third core workout.

Day 5: Biggest Loser Resort Niagara

IMG_7152The day once again started off with me snoozing through stretch, but the extra sleep has been good for me.  Coming to the resort I have had some problems with snoring and waking up on and off, but all the working out here has made me sleep like the dead.  I woke up feeling pretty invigorated considering all the work I had put in throughout the week.  The best part of the day for me was knowing I was going on an offsite hike.  The offsite hike was at Letchworth State Park, and it was far better than I expected.

Day 4: Biggest Loser Resort Niagara

Along the hiking trailIt looks like I am going to be using my stretch time each morning to sleep.  I am still catching up on these blog posts and not waking up early like I should to keep it all fresh in my mind.  I will be completely caught up this weekend though.  Thursday my energy was up and I was definitely ready to go in the morning.  There was a good lecture on goal setting that changed the way I looked at some of my own goals.  Having our trainer explain that it is better to set weekly total minute goals for gym activities rather than number of days in the gym.  If you set up  total minutes you can always catch up at the end of the week by working out more and accomplish your goal.   If you had said you were going to go 5 days a week for at least 45 minutes and you were sick 3 days you have not left yourself much wiggle room since there are only so many days of the week.  I think that little tidbit will help me.

Days 1 through 3: Biggest Loser Resort Niagara!

View of the Lake (Pond)The first three days have flown by here at the resort. Just like my last trip to Utah I am finding it hard to have time to write and talk to my family here in the beginning. Initially all I want to do when I get back to the room after dinner is call my wife and go to bed at 6:30-7:30. Just getting back in the routine and changing between classes leaves very little time to write or even think. I am pretty much back in the swing of things again, so I will be pushing onward with the blog entries.

Day 8 at the Biggest Loser Resort in Utah.

A day of rest is just what I needed!  It was a good day and started off with a little extra sleep and a breakfast with some new friends. Shortly after breakfast Sean, Kim and I went to see Arthur Christmas at the movie theater and I really enjoyed it.

Day 6 at the Biggest Loser Resort in Utah.

I felt good this morning as I got ready for my hike and am surprised how not sore I am.  It was a good day overall especially since I got to go to the casino at night with Brendi, Sean and Kim.  I won 58 dollars on the slot machines, but more importantly to me I got to have a iced coffee with a splash of cream and a few splenda.  Wow did that make the difference in how I was feeling.  It was a good time and I appreciate Sean taking us a ton.

Day 5 at the Biggest Loser Resort in Utah

It is sad to be away from my family this Thanksgiving, but I can not think of a better place to be. I am very blessed to be here and I took stock of that on Thursday. It was a great day of food, friends and crazy difficult hikes. The day started out going to the hike and finding that the entrance was closed to the performing arts high school where the hike path started. It was hilarious to watch Sione, of biggest loser fame, make a hole in the fence for us to sneak through to get to the Saddle hike.

Day 4 at the Biggest Loser Resort in Utah

Wednesday was a surprisingly good day.  Once again I thought I would be plagued by fatigue or soreness but I felt pretty good all things considered.  I hope it is just that even though I have gained some weight back I have carried over some decent conditioning.  It is hard to judge since I am not physically at the point where I left the last time.  My caffeine headaches are gone which is great!
