Week 4, Day 5 – Biggest Loser Resort Niagara

Comments/Thoughts: (9/19/2013)

Well I had thought to save most of this for a post on the differences between Niagara and Utah/Malibu but I am a annoyed about it so I will vent now.  At both Malibu and Utah there are no other people staying at the resort with you.  You are only with guests, staff and trainers, and it is wonderful.  You do not have to explain yourself to any other people and better yet other people do not distract the staff from attending to you while you undergo a very stressful and EXPENSIVE life event.  In the Niagara resort there are other groups that come and stay and up until this point it has only been a slight annoyance but that has ended.

For the past week we have had less than the spectacular service at meals.  Normally the staff and kitchen are on point, but the current corporate group that is here is taking up so much of the kitchen and servers times things are slowing down, and worse the food quality is suffering.  We have complained a bit about it, but I am not sure it is being heard.  We even were forced to move to a different dining room so the corporate people could have the nice view of the lake when they ate, and we were told initially it was because the room was “being cleaned.”

Another issue with different groups being here is we can smell their food and worse yet their smoking (even though this is a smoke free campus) and see their alcohol!  Last night we were playing a card game and a group of the other guests chose to sit at the table right next to us and play poker with tons of beer.  It is pretty inconsiderate of the resort and that group, and it has finally pissed me off.  I am sick and tired of smell lasagna, hot dogs, hamburgers and beer while I am trying to change my eating patterns!  This is supposed to be our sanctuary and I am sure that group is not paying the near $75,000 that we cumulatively are.

Anyway, enough with venting I had a good day despite all that working out in the pool, and playing cards with some new friends.


Exercise:

POOL!  Yes today’s exercise was almost all pool all day.  The day started with the trainer outdoor circuit, but right after that I hit the pool and played elimination basketball till I almost passed out.  After lunch was over we just went ahead and went back to the pool even though it was an hour until class.  I then proceeded to take the two afternoon pool classes.  I am going to pay for this since the salt from the water and other chemicals semi-pickles me.  I am going to be rehydrating for days!
Food:

IMG_7691For breakfast I had the peanut butter, banana, and chocolate protein shake with a couple of turkey sausage links.  Lunch was split pea soup which is not so great, and for the main meal we had the open face turkey club with sweet potato fries.  That is a great meal, and I have already made it at home a few times.  Dinner was Cincinnati chili with quinoa pasta and it was much more filling this time than the last time I had it.  Dessert was the sticky toffee pudding cake and it kind of sucked.  I can’t sugar coat it, and even if I could it wouldn’t help that dish!

    Hey Dwayne. Thanks for the heads up about Niagara. It has sounded pretty good until now. I was wondering how it compared to the Malibu/Utah places as I have been to both.
