Day Nine – Juice fast
August 15, 2012
Well there is not too much to say about the day that was 8/14/12. I made a nice fruit juice and a fruit/veggie juice in the morning, as well has juicing a ton of tomatoes with garlic and basil. One thing I tried today with the tomatoes was to make a soup from juice. Since this is my version of the fast I feel like I can modify things since the benefits I am looking for are more weight loss and changing my overall food tastes.
I am still having problems with things like cucumbers in my juice. It is fairly difficult to find really juicy substitutes for cucumbers! I have been able to really enjoy juiced carrots, beets and that is even with adding them in with spinach juice. I am not a big fan of kale at all it seems. Although I am still drinking high amounts of fruit juice in my veggie blends I think that over the course of the fast I may be able to wean myself off of the fruit more and more.
As far as my weight goes I lost the big fat 0 pounds. For some reason that really hit me hard in the morning. I walked around in a funk most of the morning, and it wasn’t until I went and started reading the forums at the join the reboot site that I felt better. It is a must to have a community of people going through the same thing to help you past all the times you get down. Just reading others’ struggles helps me put mine into context. I have lost 17 pounds in just 9 days, it is hard to get any better then that. Some good news as I blog this is that I am actually on the morning of my 10th day and I am down to 334.2. Soooo close to 320s! My pants are more loose and I am feeling fairly well as long as I don’t overexert myself.
I mentioned above that I was planning to make my tomatoes from the garden into juice soup… Well I did and it was fantastic. I did go totally crazy and put tabasco in it! OH NO! Oh yeah! It was great and it is helping continue to not eat solid foods until my vacation. Good times! Anyway, I am going to post the blog posts now and start actually posting them live. Welcome back any readers I still have, hope all is well.

Thanks for the support, I plan on going for about 30-32 days and breaking my fast for 2-3 days before I go on a family vacation to Florida. Then when I get back I plan on doing a few 10 day fasts around trips I have followed by another 30 day in November. We shall see how it goes after this one.

I’ve been to Malibu a couple of times and loved it very much. I plan to go back next year too. Things are going a bit better for me lately. Down a notch so I am happy with that but a ways to go yet before I hit my target. The juice thing seems tough. Good luck !!!! I’ll be cheering for you.

I would be willing to bet that the sodium in the miso soup is responsible for the lack of weight loss today. Don’t stress; it will come off.
You can sub other greens for kale in recipes. I really like Romaine. Just buy the 3-packs (or 6-pks at Costco) and use a whole head in a green juice. It’s milder even than spinach and has a slight sweetness. You can also used spring mix or parsley for the greens.
For recipe ideas, check out the recipe tab at the top of my blog. If you’re enjoying juicing tomatoes, try the gazpacho juice.

Thanks for the reply, I agree that the sodium I have taken in is definitely sub-optimal and probably is going to cause stall days. I am back in gear now and things are moving in the right direction. Water water and more water! I will check your blog out, thanks for stopping by!
