Well a ton can happen in 6 days, but not really all that much has. My routine over the past several days with my extended family at home has been to get up and go exercise (good!) and then proceed to watch my calorie intake rise as I let myself be baited into sweet Christmas-ee concoctions. As of yesterday that part of my year is over! I love having my family around, but I am definitely looking forward to moving on and getting back to work on myself. I plan on being 299/300 at my next weigh-in on Wednesday the 4th of January. That is an upper bound, it could be better considering I am already back on the wagon and I am writing this on Thursday the 29th of December.
It is definitely not my family’s fault I had some weakness this holiday season, but I really am not beating myself up mentally over it. As I am typing this at my local Starbucks there is a huge pot of “mostly” vegetarian red beans that I will be using as one of my staples I prepare each weak to keep my food consistent, well portioned and healthy. More importantly I love things I can make in bulk and save anyway and this is a good way for me to prepare for success. I also make Chili and black beans in large quantities, but I find that I can eat red beans every meal every day and I am able to have a small portion of it and consume a ton of water and maintain my satiety well.
I am proud to report that even though I have had good luck in keeping my water with meals going, though I have succumbed to some Coke Zero at movies and to mix with some of my bourbon over the holidays. Last night I went out to dinner with my wife and I had water which is big for me considering how I used to behave at restaurants. We went to Texas Roadhouse and I had a small filet, plain baked potato and a salad with dressing on the side. High calorie but definitely something I can and did budget for. Though I did make that crazy concoction to the left here for the family on Christmas Eve… Naughty Naughty!
My workouts are stil going well and I met with my trainer on Monday and Wednesday this week. I went and did a solo treading class on Tuesday, and today I am a little sad to admit I did not make it to the gym. I did do a ton of laundry and moved some heavy toys up and down the stairs and organized the house. I am going to be back in the gym tomorrow morning and plan on making up for today on Saturday. My goal is a minimum of an hour a day in the gym 5 days a week and I have consistently hit that.
Anyway, I am feeling great and I got a really neat spiffy camera for Christmas so as I figure out how to use it plan on seeing more food pictures and maybe even some recipes. Hope everyone else survived the holidays without too much gain, and a positive outlook for our year and life ahead. See you all in the gym!
