I just wanted to do a quick thank you post to the people at Jawbone. I mentioned while I was at the Resort in Utah that I had purchased an Up from Jawbone and was less then thrilled with it’s performance. Well after the lackluster performance of the battery and the device in general the company offered a no questions asked refund for the device.
Well a ton can happen in 6 days, but not really all that much has. My routine over the past several days with my extended family at home has been to get up and go exercise (good!) and then proceed to watch my calorie intake rise as I let myself be baited into sweet Christmas-ee concoction. As of yesterday that part of my year is over! I love having my family around, but I am definitely looking forward to moving on and getting back to work on myself. I plan on being 299/300 at my next weigh-in on Wednesday the 4th of January.
Yes I know it has been awhile since I have updated. The usual lack of motivation excuses are not really part of it this time, and more of they family things to do and Christmas travel/holiday things have been kind of in the way. Regardless I figured while I had a spare 30 minutes I should at least update some of my progress or lack thereof.
On Monday I jumped right back in with my personal trainer Mary, and my wife tagged along for a good workout. We did some cardio interval work and then went and did a core workout. It was a solid hour and I did some 8.0, 8.5 and a 20 second 9.0 sprint to end my cardio. It felt great to push it and show my wife and trainer how far I have come in just 3 short weeks.
Such a mixture of emotions as I did my last hike today. Both Kim and Sean were not feeling well today so they did not do the hike. I actually spent my time hiking with Ilene, who has become a good friend in the last few days here. We hiked all the way up to the stop sign and a little bit of the way out to the overlook. It was a very easy hike for me at this point. I barely sweat (which is crazy since I am a sweating machine) and was rarely out of breath. It is truly amazing how fast your body can become used to hard work. The feeling you get from getting more physically fit is hard to explain. I had some tremendous news at my weigh in, I have lost 29.2 pounds in 3 weeks.
It feels odd to only have today and tomorrow left here at the resort. I have wanted to be back home since I got here pretty much, missing my wife and kids. It has been tough to be out here, but it is definitely worth it this time. I feel stronger physically, and more important I feel better mentally.
It feels surreal that I only have today, tomorrow and Saturday and it is home to my family. I have missed them ever since I left this time. I am not sure I am cut out to be away for them more than a few days. This trip to the resort has been challenging for me in a different way then the two other trips. This time I came to the resort to try to get my head and feelings in order. I did not come here to learn how to work out or prove that I can. I did not come here to learn how to cook, or how or what to eat. I came here to tackle the things that cause me the most problems, and those are the emotions and the why’s of my eating.
The hike we went on today was actually not too difficult, but the rewarding scenery at the end was amazing. The hike is called Red Mountain and you walk through a windy trail that is covered with loose rocks, and then all sand at the end. It is not a very difficult trail incline wise but you have to keep watching your feet because of all the rock. At the end of the trail you get an overlook view of all of West Canyon and it is breathtaking. I have to say it is the best view I have seen since I have been here and that is really saying something since there are so many beautiful hikes.
